Go Green, Vintage Style!

Why buy vintage pieces rather than buying new? Vintage goods are as green as it gets! Buying vintage and pre-owned goods reduces both waste and over-production. And when it comes to furnishing your home, it often means you are able to have unique items for decorating your home!

Also, all that old stuff is simply better quality! The majority of goods made years ago were made to last. The vintage textiles I find have a quality feel that most things made today cannot match. They were made of strong fibers of linen and cotton.

It is easy to decorate responsibly without sacrificing taste or style when you go "green" and stay eco-friendly. You may have been fortunate enough to have inherited family heirlooms, but if not, you can have the pleasure of finding your own distinctive pieces. Antique and vintage stores, flea markets and local thrift stores are all great places to go hunting! It can be a lot of fun because you never know what you might find. And shopping online makes it super easy these days. Shopping eBay, Etsy and other sites have so many items available.

My online store, Chickadee Vintage, celebrates – and elevates - vintage and pre-owned items. I started my business because it combines my passions of working with textiles, loving home décor, and shopping vintage, thrift and antique stores. The icing on the cake? Taking care of the environment, an enduring value I fully embrace. I love knowing my business is environmentally friendly!

Shop at vintage stores, flea markets, and antique fairs instead of stopping at the mall. You will have an adventure tracking down those just-right pieces, and you can be rest assured your home will have a unique look that is all yours.
